Each month the head gardener will explore all the seasonal practical tasks to make your garden successful.
With a strong lean on gardening organically and with a sensitivity to nature. Each month the head gardener will hope to bring an understanding of the rhythm and changes that happen to the garden.
Plant selection and plant care will be an important part of each of the study days.
You’ll want to bring your notebook but otherwise we have all that you need (unless you have that favourite pair of secateurs you can’t be without). Lunch and refreshments are included.
If you’ve ever stood in your garden and wondered where to start and how to achieve the kind of garden that you want, then this is for you! We aim to strip away any fears and doubts you have about tackling your garden tasks and leave only the parts that make it such an endless pleasure.
Each day of the “How to Be a Gardener” series is designed to be enjoyed either as a standalone class or as part of a full through-the-seasons course, building up a set of skills to ready the keen gardener for everything that faces them throughout the year!
Hotel room rates include breakfast and all applicable taxes.
Your card will be charged for the full amount of your stay at the time of booking.
Refunds are available up to 48hrs before the start of your stay, with cancellation charges applying thereafter.
Cancellation charges will apply to each night of your stay not cancelled in advanced, and with be equal to the full room rate for each night.
We reserve the right to cancel bookings at any time and, in such event, will refund any monies paid.

This day will focus on traditional spring propagation techniques from basal cuttings to division of late flowering plants and sowing seed successfully.
In our monthly "How To Be A Gardener" series, the head gardener explores all the seasonal practical tasks to make your garden successful.
Building month-on-month, the course aims to create a fantastic base of skills of knowledge to tackle just about anything in your garden all the year round.
The first of our monthly 'How to be a Gardener' series of days.
Working to the seasons, you'll learn more about the tasks relevant to your garden right now. For March, that means things like planning a flower timetable, seed sowing, dividing grasses and late summer flowering perennials. Border planning for flower succession, seasonal pruning, working with nature.

April means looking at bulb selection for borders, meadows and containers, lawn care, seasonal pruning, soil care, mulching, manuring and compost, starting plants from seed.

For May, we look at growing in containers, feeding plants, planting out tender perennials, dahlia care, trees and shrubs for gardens, pinching out perennials.
